Mover las cosas is a long-duration performance and video installation project that investigates the uncanny relationship between a chair—a familiar everyday object—and the person who moves it. Through simple, repetitive actions, the work transforms an apparently pointless task into a process that shifts positions, perceptions, and relationships between bodies and objects. The research pushes movement patterns and improvisation to their limits, questioning naturalised habits and exposing the dynamics of alienation embedded in everyday life. The project seeks to subvert the logics of permanence and productivity associated with work, proposing alternative ways of inhabiting time. As a relational experience, it aims to activate an alchemy between bodies and objects, assigning new uses to chairs and fostering an attentive awareness of the ordinary. Through movement constraints and scores, it opens a space to decentre the human subject, where movement becomes both a form of resistance to immobility and a means of imagining other ways of being.
JJohanna Borchardt is a visual artist and choreographer based in Buenos Aires. Her practice explores the intersection of visual arts, movement, and audiovisual media. She holds a degree in Visual Arts from the Universidad Nacional de las Artes (UNA) and is the founder of PAR, an international residency programme dedicated to performance.
She is also a certified yoga teacher and has undertaken extensive training in contemporary dance and performance, disciplines that inform her interdisciplinary approach. Her work has been recognised through numerous international residencies and awards, including the Vorwerk Stiftung (Germany, 2025), RARO Barcelona (Spain, 2024), No Lugar (Ecuador, 2023), and the Itaú Visual Arts Award (Argentina, 2023 and 2012). She has also received support from Argentina's National Arts Fund (Fondo Nacional de las Artes) and from CaixaForum Mediateca (Spain) in the video dance category.
